Default from 2009 that I wasn't aware of.

Hi, I wonder if someone can confirm some things for me please?
I've just signed up to Noddle and checked my financial information page to discover a default from 12/01/2009 that I wasn't even aware of.
Prior to that the Nov and Dec are shown as OK but the Oct and Sep are AA. I believe that I had been a couple of days late paying.
My questions are...
Can an account go straight from OK to having a default registered?
I believe I paid this load off as the final payment was only £109. Is it worth just letting it drop off in Jan 2015 as I am not planning on applying for credit before then? Or should I challenge it as I know I paid it off but have no paperwork.
Thanks in advance.

It will probably take you til Jan to challenge it.
But, even then, it can be chased and could end up in court even after it's fallen off your report.
Accounts don't normally change status like that. What account was it?:beer:0 -
I think I would just keep your head down to be honest.
3/4 months, doddle. They haven't found you in in this time, I doubt they will find you before January.
Good luck.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Hi it was a bank of scotland loan that was £152 for about 4 years, which was paid off. There's no way that I would have paid it all except the last payment of £109.
Will it definitely drop off in January if I ignore it?0 -

It will drop off but you can still end up being pursued by the county courts for any remaining amounts if you're not correct about it being paid off.
If you get a CCJ then that will go in for the next 6 years.
How much is Noddle saying you owe?0
