Congratulations on baby and OPs! You are managing amazingly well and it seems that you are able to look positively and manage your health well with all other aspects of life! And thats a tough balance! Like you said, frugality is the key!

Thanks Jodles. I'm probably painting a rosier picture than real life, but do the best I can. Even when I don't have the energy to show positivity on the outside, it's still there dragging me along on the inside!

Hi edinburgher, I thought I'd replied to your message, but it was quite early so I must have done something wrong (in between very long blinks while waiting for the baby to finish feeding and being passed to me for burp the baby!).
I'm very intrigued by your 4%, the best account we found was 3% - would you mind telling me which account you found?
Baby saver's account opened a couple of days ago, which is another thing off the list. We opened it with the money he was given by some of my Dutch relatives

If you open a H@lifax cash ISA with £1 or more, baby Saver qualifies for 4% JISA rate. Money tied up as you know, but was the best that I could find. Will be using it in conjunction with a S&S ISA to try and guarantee a minimum level of growth.
If you have any online accounts with them, it takes all of 30 seconds to set up.0 -
Thanks, Edinbugher. We did look at these, but wanted some access to the money in case he needed it at any time.
I think I mentioned in a previous post that when he's older we'll go with him and open an ISA (or whatever is available at that time) that he can use for pocket money and to understand a bit about money.Old Mortgage: [STRIKE]2009:£78500 2010:£76951.71 2011:£74414.49 2012:£71961.35 2013:£67813.54 2014:£64375.16 Current: £55,480.27[/STRIKE]

Quite happy with myself today! We have an old CRT TV and on Sunday it decided it couldn't be bothered to switch on. I checked the electrical cable and the plug fuse, but both were fine. So I opened it up hoping that it would be either a bit of solder blown or a fuse on the board blown. The solder that was visible was fine, but a quick go on the multimeter showed that the fuse was gone.
Replacement fuses arrived today and seem to have resolved the issue - plus we have 4 spares for the future!
I have to say, spending a bit of time on Sunday looking at these flat screen tvs was quite exciting. It would have been nice to have one, but happy to wait especially as baby saver will be up on his feet before we know it! All in all it cost a few quid to fix, but saved a few hundred quid - sounds good to me.
Hope you're all having a good week

The College have lost it's FE funding to offer AAT Level 3 in September, so there is a group of us who are going to study ACCA through a private tutor.0
