Concerned RE ID theft - letter about a card I do not have

Hi all,
I've recently had a letter from Barclaycard regarding improved T&Cs - the only issue I have with it is that I don't have a Barclaycard and never have done.
In the past I've had letters from the likes of CapitalOne trying to get me to sign up to cards, so I was inclined to ignore this letter from Barclaycard as generic spam. I'm more suspicious in this instance though as the letter specifically references Barclaycard Freedom Rewards, has what looks to be an account number underneath this (only the last 4 digits are visible) and my name is spelled incorrectly.
I've already tried calling the customer services helpline numbers given but both of them are automated and require an account number (which I obviously do not have) to be entered before allowing me to proceed further. There is no "help" option either to select.
Should I be suspicious of this? Does anybody know of an alternative way to contact Barclaycard? I suppose I could go into a Barclays branch and see if anyone could help me there.
Any advice would be much appreciated - thanks.

0800 318 665 is the number on the barclaycard website for a specialist fraud advisor. I'd give them a call if I were you.The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

Thank you both for your replies - really good suggestions.
I've just rang the specialist fraud advisor line. It does indeed turn out that somebody has tried to use my details. They couldn't specify exactly what the person tried to do but assured me no monetary transactions had occurred. They've blocked the account and are going to investigate it further and have advised me to put it out of my mind for now.
I did think it was suspicious so I'm glad I've followed it up. Just hope I don't see more of these kinds of letters! Bit of a wake up call to be more vigilant!0 -
Check your credit report, chances are they haven't only made one application in your name. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

Hi there,
I can only echo what gunsandbanjos has posted, check your credit report without delay. Noddle can be checked almost instantaneously once you've proved your ID with a current debit card (perfectly safe don't worry), the other two, Experian and Equifax, take a little longer and one of then will cost £2 but offer a little bit more scope.
Please do this without delay :0)
