Thule do a nice sleeve which just has a little velco strap on the top, perfect for keeping your Air in your briefcase.
Mine got a small, and perfectly repairable, split in the bottom edge from my habit of dropping my Air into it without taking the case out of my briefcase. Thule immediately sent me a new one, asking only for a photograph of the split. I've kept using the repaired one, so I have a brand new spare for later. They claim it's a 20 year warranty!0 -
I've had a Macbook air 11" for a couple of years, and bought a dirt-cheap shell for it off eBay. It's actually done really well, looks great (if you like orange! - other colours available), and apart from a small tab of plastic breaking off, still does its job today. The great thing is that it will protect the laptop but you don't need to take anything out/off to use it.0

I bought a Casecrown for my 11" Air. Keeps it well protected for travelling and has a little flap to raise up slightly for typing.
This is the 13" version
