A windchime was my first thought too....then I recalled once reading about a lady who said something like "As a Quaker i am a very peaceful person - but since my neighbours bought a windchime, I have learned the meaning of hate!" :rotfl:

I have 'birdcages' which have contained fuschias all summer, I'm thinking of replacing them with spring bulbs, pansies and evergreens for the winter. If you don't want growing displays. Have you thought of filling lanterns with seasonal items like squashes, pine cones, xmas decorations etc? Finished off with a ribbon or hessian they could look lovely.
As someone else suggested, Pinterest have some lovely ideas in their 'Fall decorating ideas'

Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

You set me thinking op. Have you thought about bird feeders? So many different types now or you could just use your old basket? You could add nesting material, nuts, fruit, fat balls... or would that be inviting mice to your front door?
