MBNA/Max Recovery Duplicate

Hi folks
Can someone tell me please if it is common practice when debts have been sold on to DCAs that the original lender, in this instance MBNA, can record the default on your credit file aswell as the DCA, Max Rec, recording it also.
I went BR in 2011 and the entry from MBNA has popped up recently, Max Rec has always been on my file since the BR. I had two debts with MBNA and now my report is reflecting it 4 times!
Thanks

They can, but the original MUST show that the debt has been sold on. e.g. on Experian this would be via a "assigned to CAIS member" marker on the original entry. The default dates etc MUST also be the same.
If there is no marker to indicate the debt has been sold on then it is wrong, and you should complain.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks Fermi I've highlighted this to Experian and awaiting their feedback.0
