How far have you got in applying for BB status yourself? That would be a good next step.
Ampersand, did you not read my thread about the unfairness in the issuing process for these badges?

They are almost impossible to get, even if walking is agony, unless the condition is long term. You can have two broken legs and, as long as they are likely to heal normally, you are unlikely to qualify. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
I beg to differ.Nodding_Donkey wrote: »Your friend has absolutely no excuse for parking in a disabled bay.
Sounds like you do meet the definition of disability in the Equality Act 2010 in my opinion (I am an ex Disability Advice Manager, not an expert but I do know the law about this issue). I would be very surprised if a back injury that severe is going to suddenly be better within 12 months - far more likely to be recurrent for a while yet, unfortunately? The fact it's only been an issue for 3 months so far, isn't the point. You meet the definition of disability if the condition has a significant affect on your daily living and is likely to do so (or likely to be recurrent) for at least 12 months. So the disabled bay provision WAS for you. And yes, IKEA are clueless, this has nothing to do with the Council and on private land they cannot insist on a Blue Badge (but that's NOT an argument to win a POPLA appeal, by the way).Thank you to the people who have posted helpful information.
To the others of you who seem to feel so much hate, may you never experience the indignity of losing bladder control because of nerve injury, of being in so much pain you can't get from one side of the room to the other and the embarrassment of needing your ten year old child help you to dress.
I would have parked in a disabled bay with you as my passenger as well. Sounds like you have MUCH more right to have the car parked there than some moaning old men drivers with their stupidly massive Kompressor cars and flat caps (yes they always drive a Kompressor and always wear a flat cap!), who may well have a Blue Badge but many of whom are much more mobile and well, on a day to day basis, than you.
Your friend will win at POPLA if they follow our template POPLA appeals, so no worries. But none of this is needed to win at POPLA, this is mitigation which would lose:
So read the Newbies thread. I guess your friend has already admitted she was the driver (doh!). Now you are here, help your friend win once she gets the inevitable rejection letter and POPLA code. Tell her to be ready for a reply full of utter codswallop which may run to several pages of bluster from PE. Tell her you are now on a forum where we ALWAYS win at POPLA but not to pay and not to panic and NOT to write about 'what happened' in the POPLA appeal. Read the Newbies sticky thread and find the PE examples in the 'How to win at POPLA' link in post #3 of that sticky thread. Your friend can adapt one once she gets her code.Obviously I can supply my friend with details of my GP and physio appts but of course there might still be difficulty proving I was a passenger anyway.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
