Hi all
A few weeks ago we noticed fleas on our cat and we got her some flea treatment bob Martin and we sprayed the house and kept hovering, we then had a injection due just before our holiday so I took her and he said he noticed stuff on her which he showed me, he said she didn't have fleas but at some stage she had so I panicked again and sprayed again the day before the holiday and hovered fully before we sprayed this spray I got from pets at home, we returned back home after 11 days away and we were in out shorts and we had 2 or 3 small ish fleas crawling on bottom of our legs and we then removed each time and seemed to keep happening so knew it was bad, called the council place and said they could do it for us even though it's private rented and they will come and spray for 54 pounds, but this is Wednesday, so what we did yesterdsay(Friday) after returning and thm saying Wednesday was got pk2 johnsons flea bombs from pets at home which I have seem hundreds of good reviews and used that to hopefully help till Wednesday as a long time away, also used it with the same brand spray for under cushions, bed and couch etc, we later noticed nothing atall then when we in bed in fresh bedding we caurht a large flea and had few bits on us, again this morning so far had 2 small fleas go on me, I know this seems to have took a lot of them off, does anyone know how log these bombs work as in for the fleas to proper die?, we are still getting the flea man and Wednesday but thinking of getting more bombs or maybe just do a hover and another spray to try as help as much? It's so worries with drying clothes on maidens and also our wardrobes are these wood and fabric which are wood shelves we have a lot of clothes folded on etc, we had them open while we used the bombs and we have a 2 bed flat and 1 bomb is prob enough but we used 1 in sitting room and 1 in main bedroom, the sitting room seems to be fine it seems to be more the bedroom and spare room?
Also when we went vets for this injections I got the stronghold and used it but she does seem to still scratch a lot.
Thanks

Your doing the right thing getting the council in, in my recent experience nothing you can buy over the counter works. So just hold out till Wednesday, hoover before Wednesday, because you should hot hoover for 2 weeks after treatment.
I don't know about the injections but we have found since having the council in and starting the cat and dog on Advocate drops fleas (from the vet only) are a thing of the past.0 -
Buy some advocate from you vets and use once a month on your moggy, the bombs you are using probably won't touch all the eggs that are lurking in the corners and crevices all over your house and you need to break the cycle, you can only do this by de-fleaing your pet regularly ensuring any eggs that hatch and jump on your pet get killed before they are able to breed. It's not going to happen overnight and a house spray insecticide in an aerosol will allow you to spray all the crevices where they lurk in addition to advocate. Advocate isn't available in pet shops but if you are registered with a local vet they should give it to you over the counter0

Hi,
You need to make sure what the council are using has the right stuff in to kill the fleas, products you buy over the counter in pet shops / supermarkets for fleas do not work. They only kill the fleas not the eggs, so your fighting a losing battle as they'll just hatch and breed etc. Advocate, stronghold and frontline combo are the best products to buy which the vet can give you but you need to clear the infestation in the house at the same time, if one gets cleared before the other then it'll just happen again, either a flea will get on the cat or a flea will go from the cat to the household. Unfortunately it is a long process that will clear up but it takes time. I know this as i work in a vets and i have seen this many times.Saving For A Deposit - £3430.38/£5000 (27/10/14)

We went away for a few days in July and came home to a flea infestation that was centred in one room, although the whole house was infected.
We washed the cats, treated with Advocate (please avoid Bob Martin products, one of mine had an unpleasant reaction it and it was upsetting to him like that) and put flea collars on them.
We tried 2 different kind of indoor flea sprays for the rooms and after 2 weeks were still seeing fleas. The only indoor spray that worked for us was Indorex. It has high reviews on Amazon. I sprayed every room and within 2 days they were all dead.0 -
You do seem to be doing everything right, the only other thing i would say was that flea collars do not work. Aslong as you keep the flea treatment up every month you should be able to manage it.Saving For A Deposit - £3430.38/£5000 (27/10/14)

A plate of soapy water with a light above it left on all night - see how many you catch. Note that they don't drown in water unless it has soap in it.
Keep the trap on at night until you stop catching them. Keep vacuuming as well.0 -

You have my sympathy. I used to live in a rented flat that used to accumulate all the pigeons in the area on the roof. Besides getting pooped on when I went outside their fleas used to get through the roof.
You have to throw everything at them while wearing dustbin bags over each leg. Spray all carpets, sprinkle powder & hoover some time after.
Regular vacuuming works wonders.
Just keep at it, the sprays are not cheap. Leave no corner unturned.0 -
Agree Bob Martins useless. I use Indorax worth every penny keeps house clear for months. Also use stronghold, a winning combination.
Good luck nothing worse than having fleas, which unfortunately appear to be getting more resistant to products. I have had cats for forty years and never had flea problems until the past 12 - 18 months and they have taken some getting rid of.SCP # 034
