I'm toying with the idea of a bit of an 'Ikea hack' to create a mid-century style TV cabinet.
The challenge I'm facing is finding the slim, tapered wooden legs I need.
This kind of thing...

There seem to be options in the US - see here http://retrorenovation.com/2014/02/04/mid-century-modern-retro-table-legs/
and http://www.homedepot.com/p/Waddell-6-in-Hardwood-Round-Taper-Leg-2506/100672298#.UcD66vbFQqI
The only options I've found in the UK are up in the £75 range, which defeats the object of the exercise - and even if the US websites ship internationally, the costs will be prohibitive.
Any suggestions?

Those legs are similar to the ones you would find on 50's/60's furniture. Look on Ebay, recycling centres, charity shops etc for a table with similar legs or just the legs themselves.
If you are any good at woodwork you could make tapered legs yourself and leave them square if you don't have access to woodturning facilities.0 -
One of the magic words is quite often Dansette legs.
I've got an original table, made in the early 60s, from a rectangle of formica and four such legs - from my parents' house.0 -
No idea about the legs but an interesting site.http://www.ikeahackers.net/2014/04/cat-litter-with-microcontrolled-motion-detection-and-led-counter-3.html0

Try your local second hand furniture shops, charity furniture shops etc.
You might find an old coffee table with suitable legs for a tenner or so.
Check that they will be sturdy enough to support the weight of your cabinet and contents.0
