Another boiler/central heating question
Hi
The copper cylinder in our airing cupboard has a 'hairline fracture' and is leaking - we're emptying it etc.; we think it's at least 30 years old. So we're pretty resigned to the fact it will need replacing but would obviously like not to get ripped off! The boiler is ancient too.
What is a reasonable price for a new central heating/boiler system?
Ideally, we think we'd get a combination boiler, but try to avoid replacing pipes around the house and radiators.
If anyone can recommend a firm (south beds) that would be even better

I would keep same setup as now & go for a condensing boiler with a new fully lagged cylinder - should keep the costs lower. We just had a baxi solo 15 condensing one fitted & it has no pilot light, so that's a saving for a start. Suggest you fit a magni clean too. Make sure you check they have a current Gas safe certification (Corgi as was). Ours was totally free, as I had a card in the mail, that said if you get certain benefit etc. Was called the ECO scheme, but I would say approx £2k as a ballpark fig. He was with us from 8.30 to 3.30 so all day in effect.0

Check out Intergas combi boiler.
Whatever brand you go for, the manufacturer will have a list of installers.

Walk into a Plumbcenter, and ask the bar tender. Think Yul Brynner looking for gunslingers in The Magnificent Seven.0
