I have been offered just under 25% of the original cost of treatment so as my husband is waiting for open heart surgery and I don't want him stressed I have accepted the offer but in goods not services as I wouldn't put myself through treatment again, I hate pain and being disabled I suffer enough even with painkillers and morphine patches in me. I do appreciate their kind offer.

You have entered into a contract and they remain willing to honour it, it is you that is breaching the contract by not wanting to take the full number of sessions that you have booked.

I would stiffen my back and go and see them and hope their goodwill will give you the partial refund.

Just ask for a different masseur? It was fine for 6 sessions then one bad one, perhaps the manager actually wants to apologise and give you back your disappointing session? Go on and see them, you may find amicable compromise
