Help with benefits

Hi all would like some help if possible.

My dad suffered a heart attack with subsequent cardiac arrest on Saturday. Thankfully he survived with a long stay in ITU in a critical condition. He woke from an induced coma two days ago and ever since has been worried about money (unbelievable I know).

He was on DLA benefit for a few years however around a year and a half ago he was deemed for enough to work. He suffered depression, anxiety, back pain and a range of other problems.

Would anybody on here know whether he would be entitled to some form of benefits following heart attack and cardiac arrest.

He has to have many investigations with possible surgery dependent on what is found to be the cause of the attack.

Thank in advance for any information you may be able to give.

Can you give a few more details please?

Has he a partner/wife? Do they work? Is he working?

    How old is he?

    Mortgaged house/owned house/renting?

    Any savings?
  • Yes my mam works part time but he doesn't work.

He is 62 and has very little savings to speak of. The house is owned paid for a whole back. I

He may be able to get ESA (or pension credit - unless the age has changed?) for which he needs a fit note for.
