Motability and Imports

Hi everyone...

Im not sure if this is the right place to post this but thought i would ask around as i have heard that if i buy an imported car i would be able to VAT exempt certificate or something, see heres the probblem i have...

We get a mobility car for our son who has CP,learning issues, cant walk at all without support and thus uses wheelchair, walking sticks/walking frame,i have to get all this in the back of our car wich is a standerd 5 seater,i have looked at the possability of something larger from motability but for the life of me i cant justify there large deposits for something that wouldnt be ours at the end of the term, thus im looking to get out of the motability realm and buy it outright.

I have looke don ebay, car dealers are a world in there own right with adding 3 or 4k to an over priced second hand motor,so i looked into a different source and spoke to alot of helpfull people who'm some have sujjested that i would be better off buying from japan due to their strict testing they have on viechles, some of wich are £5k but when you add the tax, import duty, shipping fees,MOT If car is over 10yrs old) kph to mph conversion + rear fog lamp this equates to near 8k BUT majority of that is the tax.
Question is...has anyone done this/gone this route and does anyone have any info regarding the VAT exemption?
And id also like to add that the car has a dissability chair, there is 2 versions of this 1 comes directly out the other is motorized and swings out of the car so my son can get from car seat to wheel chair easily.

BIG thx in advance......Steve
