Windows 98 Help Please

Hi hope someone may be able to help me am trying to find some free anti virus/pc check up software compatible for windows 98. I have downloaded one called reg- cure but then it says to fix my computer i would need to pay for the full version!!! Does anyone know of any free software that will work with my dinosaur Windows98 computer. I cant afford to buy a new computer yet. Thankyou.

AVG says it will work with 98

avg is free and is the best. it will work with 98 asam running it on my seconed computrer

1st visit the quick link box at

and download the antivirus.

Then download the last version of Zonelabs firewall to work with Win98 from

Not all the products in the above article work with Win98, although I can confirm Spybot and AdAware both do.

The 4 products above are all used by me, without problem on a PC running Win98se.
Whilst the Zonealarm is no longer supported, it seems to keep everything out.
Newer versions do not work at all.

Spud 17 advised me to download zonelabs as well but when i did this my computer would only load up in safe mode. I have uninstalled zonelabs and will now load up normally. Still dont think it is running right though but not very good with computers. Any think else i should do to make it run smooother i have managed to defragment if that helps. Thanks
