Which new boiler to have installed
Hi, I'm going to be getting my boiler replaced shortly and am on the process of obtaining quotes.
I'll be getting a worcester bosch boiler fitted, but so far too different gas filters have quoted me for 2 different boilers.
The 1st quoted for a worcester bosch greenstar compact 32 cdi.
The 2nd quoted for a worcester bosch greenstar compact 36cdi.
Both fitters are worcester bosch accredited, so I am a little confused at to the differing quotes.
Is one trying to sell me a boiler that is just sufficient?
Or would I be better going for the boiler that exceeds my needs, therefore it's not working it's hardest every time the hot water is on?
I live on a 4 bed detached with 1 bathroom and no en suites if this helps.

Some supplier had a surplus in one model, and offers a better discount on that one.
Personally, I pay for the engineer, not the boiler. Sadly, you only know the guy is good five years later because nothing stupid has happened, like pipework corrosion because cement is directly in contact with copper.0 -
Shouldn't the engineers be explaining why they have chosen a particular boiler?
You are paying for it, it should meet your needs, but it also needs to be suitable for the property.
Without the results of the basic tests the engineers should have undertaken prior to specifying the boiler, no one on this forum can advise you which is best.0 -
Good point - after all most firms would recommend a certain boiler make / model based on say the size of your home, number of bedrooms, etc.
If they don't say why they recommend a certain make/model I'd be surprised at best!0 -
Looking at the specifications they are both rated the same for heating capacity but the 36 gives a higher flow rate of hot water so really there's not a lot to choose between them.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
