Popla appeal rejected

Hi, I followed the advice of the numerous threads after being given a PCN from g24. My appeal was initially rejected so I sent a standard appeal letter citing all of the normal grounds of appeal via Royal Mail. Around 6 weeks went by whilst hearing nothing until I contacted POPLA to see why I had not been responded to. They suggested that they had not received any correspondence from myself and because I could not prove I had posted the letter they suggested I could re-submit via email and the lead adjudicator would decide. Another few days passed until today where I have been informed that because I didn't put a date on my email suggesting when the initial letter was sent, my appeal has been rejected and I should pay the PCN. How can a date on a letter make any difference as it could have been a fake date to start with! What should be the next step as I would loathe to pay these parasites. Has anyone else been rejected on these grounds or has some advice?

Thanks, sunflash10

not sure anyone can help you if you cannot prove your case (like a proof of postage at the POST OFFICE , ie:- a free cert of posting)

my advice would always be to appeal on the popla website direct, so you get an email from london councils proving you have appealed, even if you post an appeal by royal mail too

as for snail mail, always get a free cert of posting at the Popst Office, costs nothing to do so and proves an appeal was sent, that is what you are being asked for , shame you didnt do so

ideally both should be done, for safety (online and via a PO with free cert of posting) , as outlined by lazydaisy (retired solicitor) on here about 10 months ago

its not just what you do, its how you do it , with proof of actions, that counts

Remember POPLA decisions are only binding on the PPC, not the motorist. You can, if you wish, continue to ignore the charge and wait to see what G24's next move will be.

If they pass it to debt collectors, they too can be ignored. But you must deal with any LBA/LBCCC if one is sent by G24 or if you receive official court papers, do not ignore either of these; come back for more help if either is received.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

And as far as I am aware zG24 is not a PPC that do court, so just ignore debt letters. Only come back if you get and LBA etc.

Advice is, do what we used to do before POPLA existed 2 years ago. Ignore them and collect the silly debt collector threatograms. Next time appeal online to POPLA.

I rather like POPLA as we win every time and the Assessors must know from our forum appeal words how much we DETEST PPCs - they must see the scam too, I am sure. But OPs need to appeal online (isn't it obvious not to post such stuff which could get lost, when there's an online option...? I am not certain the OP even downloaded a POPLA Appeal cover sheet either, so a random letter on its own could easily be lost in the office which must be pretty vast and full of paperwork). Such a waste of time and now the OP will get the debt collector letters they could have avoided, piles of junk mail for months about it now.

  • Thanks guys, I will ignore and see what happens in the next couple of weeks. I have read that should it even go to court, they can only charge the fine anyway. Is this correct or would I be liable for substantial costs?

G24 have never done court. You really have NOTHING to worry about from this bunch of lying scammers ( and yes I can prove they are liars ).

I have three of their lovely invoices just to prove they don't do court :rotfl:

That is correct. But you won't get a court claim from G24!
