Stripping out a whole house - Is there money to be made from scrappage????

  • PS copper is still fetching good prices but if you are replacing the heating system you will probably find your plumber/heating engr will be claiming the scrappage for those. A copper tank can fetch about £40.
    Over £3/kilo for copper at the moment!

    Wish I'd have bought a load 5 years ago when it was £1/kilo.

    They bloomin well shouldn't! :eek: Maybe OK if agreed upfront and offset against what they charge you, if you can't be bothered scrapping it yourself.

    When we had central heating installed & full rewire, I took all the old pipes, water tank & cables to metal recycling - made approx £150. Not exactly a lottery win but helped a bit... :)
