K9 I too am single and earn less than 12k and had absolutely no idea that I could get any WTC.I work 2 jobs totalling 41 and a half hours per week, one of my colleagues in similar circumstances to me (late 50's,child flown the nest) mentioned filling in her WTC form and I was amazed she got anything! She got me the tel number, sat me down and I eventually got through and applied.Lo and behold I have ended up with 65 quid a month which really helps! If only I had known 3 years ago,as it is they backdated for 3 months so that went straight to mortgage overpayments lol.Just ask and you may be pleasantly surprised,I also assumed the government dont help single people, good luck.
