We have a 6 month old Labrador, we're following the 5 minute per month for walking guidelines, I just wonder if a single 30 minute walk is fine or should we split it into 2 shorter walks ?

if you can split it then I would0

I read that it's up to two walks of the 5 minutes per month each day.
To be honest, around here, with the tiny little legs on a miniature poodle, a half hour doesn't get you far anyway!0 -
The kind of walking is also important - lead walking (where the pup basically has to keep up with you & has no option) is much harder on them than having a run around off-lead
Also, it's really important to not walk / exercise them until they're tired out (which is a mistake a lot of owners make) as by then, they've done far too muchGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

A young pup at that age is prone to joint stress so I would say gentle lead exercise is better i.e no powerwalks! If you let them bomb about like a loony they are prone to more damage rather than less. If you are finding your pup has boundless energy then mental stimulation is the key. Let your motto be 'give the dog job' and provide Kongs, Canac activity balls, toys, hide and seek games etc to keep the energy levels under control.0

Thanks all, currently the 30 min walk is part lead walking and when possible on the long extended lead so she can be at her own pace / sniff around a bit.0

Kennel club says up to 5min/ month of age twice per day. See here http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/getting-a-dog-or-puppy/general-advice-about-caring-for-your-new-puppy-or-dog/puppy-and-dog-walking/0 -
