barclaycard & FOS

hello, just wondering if anyone could offer some advice? I have a ppi claim against an old closed Barclaycard. barclaycard rejected the complaint & I took it to the FOS in March 2013. In October 2013 I got a letter from an adjudicator in FOS saying she believed my complaint should be upheld.
A month later I got a further letter from FOS saying Barclaycard had appealed and they needed to look at what they had to say.
I heard nothing for six months & got another letter from FOS saying they still hadn't resolved matters.
I called them in April 2014 & spoke to a very pleasant person at FOS who said Barclaycard hadn't offered any further info, only what they originally submitted again & as far as FOS were concerned nothing had changed. As Barclaycard would not settle it would have to go to an ombudsman for a final decision. A further letter arrived in May saying again no decision had been reached.
I know they are very busy and understaffed but does anyone know when I am likely to get a decision. Is it 12-18 months from original submission to FOS or from when an it is referred by an adjudicator to an ombudsman? Will Barclaycard mess around after the decision?
Any thoughts or advice much appreciated! Thanks a lot.

  • If the Bank have appealed the original decision by the adjudicator then you'll likely have to wait many more months I'm afraid. There is no official timescale to rely on and it could be resolved next week or next year.

Its a very opaque system at the FOS so at this stage if you want to win your case, keep your mouth shut and wait.
The FOS could have made a mistake and Barclaycard have submitted more case file or they may submit it just before proceeding to determine final outcome (other forum posters will say 'unlikely').
You could put your questions direct to Barclaycard - see http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=65241056&postcount=3 for contact details.

Except that Banks will usually no longer correspond with customers about complaints which have been referred to FOS.
