Post office check and send fee.

Just a quick curiosity question about the fee for passport checking at the post office.
If someone takes an application to be checked do they pay the fee first? I only ask because someone I know has been today and apparently there are all kinds of things wrong with her application!!!! She has had to take it home to get new photos done and also apply for a copy of a marriage certificate.
Will the post office have charged her for the checking even though they are not sending it off? I forgot to ask her but was wondering because if you only pay when they send it then anyone could go and use the service for free and post it off themselves.

My daughter was charged right away and given a receipt or something so when she returned with a suitable photo she didn't have to pay again.0

No you shouldn't have to pay twice. Mine was checked and I was told my photo wouldn't be accepted as my fringe was covering the slightest bit of one eye.
Was more peeved at having to pay another fiver for more pics than anything but I suppose it is better than being sent back from the passport office.Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -
Are you asking if you can get them to check it first and if there are problems take it away, fix them, and not reuse the service thus avoid paying for the checking element?
Possibly, I think they assume you'll fix problems then and there and come back to the window to send it but you could of cause just disappear after taking their advice.
Personally wouldnt take their advice too seriously anyway, there are plenty of stories of check and send being used and blatant mistakes not being picked up.0 -
unless it's changed you pay upfront - if there's a problem the re-check when you bring it back later is free0

Great Money Saving Expert tip: Read the instructions and check it carefully yourself, you will be as qualified as the PO staff and save some money.0
