Aqua raising Credit Card limit - Credit Rating Effect?

Hi ladies & gents,

I recently got an Aqua Credit Card to boost my middling Credit Rating. They gave me a limit of £450. I have been using it for small expenses and paying it off in full each month.

After 3/4 months they wrote to me saying they were raising the limit to £950 unless I opt out. I was wondering what effect this will have on my Credit Rating? I know I will be using less % of available credit, but will having more credit available be seen as a negative?

Cheers,
Banjo

Given the values involved it is unlikely to have any impact on your ability to get credit compared to the lower limit.

  • They done this to me too... initially had a £250 limit with Good history apart from 1 default. After a month of owning the card they raised it to £600. My barclay card on the other hand that i got around the same time gave me a limit of £400 in April and have just announced they are raising it to £800 next month. I see it as a positive tbh... Must be getting better if they are prepared to trust me with more
  • It will probably have a good effect if anything. There are people on here with £30k+ in total limits.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.
