Mumsnet/Unipart MOT winners - bad news

If you were one of the 50 winners of the Mumsnet comp (posted here) for a £50 MOT/Unipart Car Care Centre voucher back in July, I've got some bad news for you, if you haven't used it yet ...
Unipart Automotive (which includes the Car Care Centre) went into administration on 24 July (2 weeks after the WEMs were sent). I've just been booking our car in for a service/MOT and the garage said that they are no longer accepting the vouchers.
They said that the parent Unipart company still exists so they would see if they could get anything back from them, but not holding out much hope.

Oh no!! I was one of the winners of this too - my MOT isn't due till November and the girl I spoke to at the time from Unipart, said that it would be fine to hang on to it till then
So much for that!!
Let me know if you have any joy with them!0 -
Unipart & Unipart Automotive are 2 seperate companies now.....Unipart automotive were bought from Unipart a while back but still kept the name....So I wouldn't hold your breath in getting anything back

Some better news to report ...
The advice back from the local garage was that we should contact the email address which the voucher was sent from (ucccsocial@gmail.com).
Did this and after a few days they replied to say that they would honour the vouchers and would arrange pre-payment to the garage.
The car was booked in today and although the payment hasn't actually reached the garage, they were confident it was on its way, so deducted the £50 from the bill.
So, a little effort and a bit of co-operation from the garage required, but it worked OK.
Hope this helps any other winners who haven't used the voucher yet.0 -
Glad you got it sorted.
I never enter comps to do with garages, I'm probably being paranoid, but I always worry that they'll 'find' other stuff wrong to make up for the peize money lost.Make £10 per day-
June: £100/£3000
