Child DLA award.

My daughter has finally been awarded her dla after a long process.
I'm not sure how it affects housing or council tax benefit, and helpfully the department at my LA have not responded to my emails and you can't call them?

I don't want to be overpaid but I'm assuming they get the info on her dla claim electronically anyway? I have put it in writing and sent recorded but still haven't heard from them?
I assume the atlas system covers dla too so really they should have the info?

DLA isn't counted as income for housing and council tax benefits. You should get disability premiums within housing and council tax benefits.

You'd also now receive a disability premium within tax credits.

Oh thanks, the tax credits advisor said I'd be best to tell housing benefit Asap as I may be overpaid. I assumed all their online systems talked to one another anyway..so surely they would no about the award?

They may know about the ward. But you still have to inform them of any changes.

Yes that's why I sent them a recorded letter, I just wondered if they would be able to see the award and act on it. They are notorious for not answering emails and letters and I can't call them.

Suppose I will have to wait and see, they will soon get in touch if I owe them money
  • Finally got through to someone, wish I hadnt, they have suspended my claim until I hand in the award notice to them, the award notice I don't have yet.. I thought everything was sent to them electronically , surely that would be easier
  • not to sure why the suspended your claim they usually just check with the DWP electronically

Yes I don't understand either, I thought the atlas system updated them with everything, but apparently I have to hand in the award notice before my claim can be continued?
