Tree sap on car on drive from council tree

there is a council tree which overlooks my drive, it puts a lot of SAP on my car, I need to wash it every 3 days!

Anyway I can be compensated from the council? my bodywork must be wearing from the exsessive washing

Comments

  • I would imagine not as you clearly know that it is going to happen! Maybe ask them to cut the tree down? Or put a sheet over your car?

    Good grief!

Don't forget to claim compensation from the water company for he cost of descaling your kettle. After all, it's their water that causes the problem.

Could you not cover the car?
  • These are lime trees, they make a terrible sticky mess on cars. But they are planted on most public roads.

But.....we have a tree on our private front garden. When we park in our own driveway, or indeed cars that park on the street, at certain times of year get covered in purple bird droppings as the bird eat the berries off the tree and deposit their muck everywhere. Thank goodness we are not liable for paying the washing of the cars who happen to park on the street outside our house.

It is just nature at work!

It's not sap, but the exudations of sap-sucking aphids.

Given that these insects are squatting, uninvited, on municipal property, the council can hardly be blamed for their thoughtless excretions.

Normally, I'd suggest your solicitor send a letter before action to the aphids, but in this case I'd wait. I have a feeling that they will soon be evicted by something called 'Autumn.' ;)

Years ago, within the drivers - chauffers - handbook supplied with your Rolls Royce, it clearly informed you NOT to park under lime trees.

And as for the council paying any attention to the tree in question, if they have the same regards to any maintanance on their trees, due to finacial constraints, as they do here in Luton, it wouldn't even be touched unless it was in dangerous condition.

We're fortunate enough to have lots of trees in our town, it will be a great shame if any are lost, due to poor upkeep.

Yes. I am sure if you write to them politely, they will reward you with a cheque for £1 million damages.

You knew - or should have known - the tree was there when you bought the place: Lime trees are well known for this issue.

You have failed to erect a cover or park elsewhere..

Your decisions, your problem. More than slightly cheeky to expect us, the tax-payers, to pay up for your lack of thought or action.

!!!!!! it's only a tin box that's painted by a computer, not some status/ph*ll*c symbol to use to compensate for some failing elsewhere...

    Cheers!
