Renovating a newish house.

My fianc! and I got an offer accepted on a 3 bed detached house 2 weeks ago. It's a newish house built around 1980's.
It needs a lot of work, all of which is just cosmetic.
Living room we are ripping up the old carpet and putting down wood effect click together laminate and we have to repaint.
Kitchen was for some reason painted bright orange....even the door, so that's going to be changed and there is a weird cabinet on the floor in the middle so we are tearing that up and then putting down a new floor.
All 3 bedrooms need painting and new carpets and the conservatory and landing need painting as they are bright yellow.
The bathroom needs a new floor and possibly new wall tiles.
The carpets seem to be the most expensive thing we need doing as laying it is the only thing we can't do ourselves. We went to a local business and for the 3 rooms they quoted us about £1000 for carpets, fitting and extras (like gripping) then we went to carpet right and we were quoted about £500 for a similar quality carpet.
My question is, should be still shop around or do you think carpet right are ok for quality ?
Also any other advice on how to save money would be appreciated !
Many thanks !

Congratulations on your new house!
I would personally find the brand and range name of the carpet. That's the only way you can make a true comparison and appearances can be deceptive.
I personally would not touch carpet right but each to their own. We recently sourced samples from the manufacturer, ordered online and got a local fitter.0 -
I've used carpet right once over the years, along with probably all the major players. No difference between them in my view;);)
But what I would say is that most towns have their own local and well established carpet shop/sales room, I would definitely go that way if costs are similar, we all need to support our local economies when financially viable.
Don't separate the supplier from the fitter, no one will take ownership if there is an issue. And as the above poster says, the only valid comparison is like for like, similar is vague, a Ford is similar to a Rolls R in many respects.;);)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
