Halifax clarity: how is the interest calculated on withdrawals?

Has anyone any experience of this with Halifax? I wouldn't rely on them not taking the DD if you make an interim payment - I've had problems with this even when paying well before the DD date (though not with Halifax). It takes three working days for a Direct Debit to to processed.
If you make the payment before the DD process begins it won't be taken; otherwise it will be taken and your account will be in credit.
With the Clarity I keep things simple and don't have a DD - I pay manually so I'm in full control. It's the only card I don't have a DD on.0
