Hotel conundrum

If a fire breaks out how would they know if you were in your room or not at all? Not being sarcastic there, just genuinely wondered. A lot of indpendent places still have keys rather than swipe cards. Unless they checked the rooms how would they know how many people (if any) were in each one?0

I was thinking more in terms of we wouldn't be using any of the leisure facilities etc.0 -
shouldn't you change the double for a twin room, or are you on a promise?
There are no twins available (according to the site at least).
I'm not on a promise of any kind, we have a distant history together but have shared double beds together, plutonically, several times since when crashing at each other's place. S'not a problem, nor the issue in this case.0 -

Dont tell them who you are then. Just say that you have a booking for later in the year. No need to go into specifics until you find out. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

Why not just ring the hotel and say there's a possibility that someone may be joining you and in the event they do what are the extra charges you would incurr? Then you can just say ok, I'll ring you back if and when they confirm they can make it and then make your decision about what to do.0

If it's definitely a double you've booked then I'd just turn up and check in your +1 along with you. Then enquire about breakfast options etc. no biggie.0

I wouldnt even worry about it. Just turn up at reception and get your key.0

You've booked and paid for a double room, use it.
If there's a fire and you're in the room you'll both leave, if there's a fire and you're not in the room they won't look for you anyway, if there's a fire and you're trapped in the room both of you will be rescued.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
If a booking shows the same price for 1 or 2 there should be no problem.
just turn up and check in, if anything is said just say you booked a double and thought that was OK for 2 people.0 -

What's he got to do with it?
You never said it was a dog that was joining you. If that's the case, the hotel might not approve of that!0
