Call from HFC

Hi
My OH had several loans with HFC in the early 2000's. He has been thinking about finding out about whetehr he had PPI but that is as far as he has got. Yesterday, we had a message left on our phone from someone who said they were from HFC bank and left a phone number to call back stating they have tried to contact him re his PPI.
I am cynical by nature so am not sure it is legit. Does this sound like it is just a company who found out that he had an HFC account and are trying to get him to sign up to claim back PPI or do you think this is HFC. I have not heard of banks trying to contact people to give them money but I may be wrong.
Anyone else have the same thing happen?
Thanks

As you'll have to speak to the bank anyway in order to determine if he had PPI you might as well ring them direct (assuming you don't have any records). Their contact details are on the site:

0845 6023793Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Yes, ring the Bank's official telephone number and do not respond to cold callers.
Banks don't call customers to "discuss" PPI unless the customer has already made a complaint.0
