Economy 10 switch - How?

Hye,

I have an Economy 10 tariff at present but my DD has just gone up by nearly 50%.
I am unable to compare tariffs easily but would like to see if I can save money by switching
I am happy to have the meter switched if needed.
I only work 4 days a week so am at home for the other three normally and think that may be partly responsible for the rise in costs.
Anyone have any suggestions as to how to proceed (I have asked my current supplier - SSE - for help and cost of meter replacement if needed).

Thanks

Most large suppliers have an e10 tariff however you probably won’t see any large savings. The prices have to be displayed on each suppliers website, you need to look for something called ‘TIL lookup’ or ‘Tariff information label’ you should be able to find the e10 price for your region. You can ‘t run comparisons on broker sites so you will need to work out the quotes yourself.

As for removing the meter, if your heating is dependent on the e10 circuit then you might not be able to swap it out very easily. EDF will do simple meter swaps for free so you could try them and see what they say? The other option is to ask each supplier if they can ‘totalise’ your supply and create a pseudo standard meter. This just means that they can charge all of you registers at one price and this should enable you to sign up for any normal (non e10) tariff. However not all e10 meters can be totalised.

I was the same as you but my meter was a restricted hours meter, i was not able to change the tariff i had to pay what N-Power says.

I begged for the meter to be took out saying i could not afford the prices, they were really good and understanding (well the lad on the phone was) they says they will take the meter out free of charge and install a E7 meter.

What was even better was they said they would go back the the date i moved in and recalculated the units from RHM to E7 tariff and that saved me just over £100.

However i was warmer with RHM than i am with E7.

Good luck and i hope they will help you out
