Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you saying you've found other providers that are cheaper, which haven't shown up?

By 'nto true energy providers', do you mean the fact that they're not one of the Big Six? On the whole, the cheapest providers are also the newest and smallest because they are trying to win customers over from the dominant providers, but that doesn't make them any less legitimate than British Gas and the others.

If anything goes wrong, they have to go via the license holder for work to be carried out. And yes eon v7 beat them

There isn't an issue with small companies, they are usually giving the best deals at the moment. Continuous supply is guaranteed by the energy regulator, so it doesn't matter what company you're with. Even if they go bust - the regulator would have to find another supplier to take you on the same tariff - ie no interruption to supply. This happened to me with Amerada a few years ago and Powergen had to take me and my cheap tariff on. In fact i benefited as Amerada never collected my final amount owing ! If there were energy cuts this winter, it won't matter what company you're with, you'd still lose power along with everyone else in the street, whether you're with EON or Spark etc.

As for the CEC, I never use it. It's for the benefit of this site only and MSE refuse to disclose how much they make out of it. i.e. no better than any other switching site. Use them as a guide and but use a cashback site to do any switch.

All the companies listed in your post hold their own licences. Could you post the Eon unit rates and standing charges? I find it difficult to believe that they offered cheaper rates than the likes of First Utility and Extra Energy, who almost always undercut their rivals. Eon v8 is currently more expensive than certain tariffs offered by EDF, Npower and British Gas, let alone the smaller providers.

CEC is better than other switching sites in most cases but not all. TopCashBack offers a better cashback rate for First Utility than CEC does, but CEC offers cashback for certain providers, such as Extra Energy, who aren't on any cashback sites. I've also never heard anyone complaining about not receiving their cashback from CEC, whereas I've heard of people never receiving their cashback from Energylinx etc.

I personally just find the CEC interface better than others. I can adjust my usage/tariff without having to go back several pages etc.
