Acer recovery disk

Hi,

I bought a new Acer Apsire 9301 in April this year but it didn't come with a Vista recovery disk, although I vauguely remember being prompted to make a back up disk when it first booted up, I didn't as I thought I could go back and do this.

Everything is running fine - no need for a recovery disk but of course I need to have one just in case.

All my photos/files are backed up onto cds/memory sticks & other laptop, aswell as my partitioned (D) drive so thet are ok. When I try to make a backup it says it will need 22 cds/4 dvds, surly this is for everything though? I just need to be able to recover my system should the worse happen. So, how can I make a recovery disk?

Thanks

Sarah

Most Acer laptops come with D2D recovery. There should be an option to turn it on in your BIOS. This resets it back to factory defaults. When its enabled all you do is press alt+f10 (I think) and you will get the recovery page with option to restore.

Yes I have it says very little, just that I can burn a backup image to cd or dvd, tried this but it says it needs 22 cds/4 dvds.

This wouldn't work if I had to format the hard drive though? I need to be able to reinstall windows.

The D2D recovery just restores the image on the hidden partition on the D drive back onto the c. You will lose all data on c but not D

Okay, thanks scooter. What are the chances of both drives failing and having to use a new hdd altogether?

Have a go at this and see what happens

    Create factory default image CD
When the System CD and Recovery CD are not available, you can create them by
    using this feature.
    1 Boot to Windows XP.
2 Press <Alt> + <F10> to open the Acer eRecovery Management utility.
3 Enter the password to proceed. The default password is six zeros.
4 In the Acer eRecovery Management window, select Recovery settings and
    click Next.
5 In the Recovery settings window, select Burn image to disk and click Next.
6 In the Burn image to disk window, select 1. Factory default image or
    2. Application CD and click Next.
7 Follow the instructions on screen to complete the process.
