free mattress with bedstead

Hi.
Just recently bought a bed from benson for beds from their shop. A free mattress was advertised with the bed.
Bed was delivered last week but no free mattress. I went into the shop today, and the store manager says when asked where is my free mattress, she said I said no to the FREE mattress as it could only be delivered in October.
I did not say no, who would, to something that is free....I said there has obviously been some mis-communication. She said she will ask compliance tomorrow. But if the answer is no free mattress, what are my rights? Its her word against mine.I have the contract for the bed purchased.
As the mattress is free with the bed, did not get any paperwork for that. Should it be in writing that I declined the free mattress? Any help appreciated

It's a tough one.
Pretty sure that what ever the paperwork says is what is bound by law.
Unless you have proof to the conversation. Keep badgering them and see what happens.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
It is usual for paperwork to show what is ordered, not what isn't ordered.
If they were going to deliver a mattress together with the bed, I would expect the invoice to show that.
In other words, rather than your suggestion that it should be written that no free mattress was coming, the paperwork should show the free mattress if indeed one was to be delivered, and the fact that it doesn't mention the separate mattress should be taken as an indication that one hasn't been ordered.
You really should have queried this at the time of purchase.
But as Pinkypants says, keep on at them.0 -

She's actually almost certainly got something in writing - your initial order.
Did you keep your copy?0 -
Could the OP please post a legible image of their copy of the complete order that wealdroam says probably exists please? (not the delivery note)
I was confused by the OP also saying:
"Its her word against mine"

How will that help?Could the OP please post a legible image of their copy of the complete order that wealdroam says probably exists please? (not the delivery note)
The OP has already told us:
Can we not deduce from that that there is no mention of the free mattress on any paperwork? As the mattress is free with the bed, did not get any paperwork for that.
OP, I would suggest that it is not necessary for you to post an image.
Your word is good enough for me.

In my experience free items do not always get listed on orders, particularly when they are "subject to availability" etc. I know with our bedroom furniture the free mirror wasnt on the order but did turn up and the delivery invoice just had a value of £0,00 against it.
I am very surprised that they have so few orders that they can remember what you said. More likely they can see the free mattress was rejected from the order and assume that its because you said no rather than because say a keying error.
I suspect if you push enough it will come through but given the quality of these things you'll probably wish it hadnt
