Money Paid To Wrong Account - Help!

Hi All.


We have a historical customer who we hadn't done any business with for a couple of years but their banking details are all set up on online banking.


We made a payment to this account but they say they haven't received it and we have found out they are with the same bank but different bank account.


The payment hasn't bounced back so its sat somewhere, and we spoke to the bank they confirmed the payment was successful. We have managed to get an Authorisation code from the receiving account, is there anyway we can track that account with this code so we can find out where the money went. The bank have been as helpful as they can and are saying that's its going to take up to 24 days to recall the money, but if I can trace the account using the Authorisation code maybe I can contact the account holder and arrange a transfer back sooner.


Any and all advice welcome.

You made the mistake now you have to wait for the process to try and get your money returned.
If it was me I would not return the money until asked by my bank.
Why not you ask - because you could be a scammer and I could be hit by a double whammy -(bank returning one payment and customer returning one).
