Odd insurer behaviour

Well well well.
Phone call made, passed through to complaints and it's been looked at this morning and they realise there has been a catalogue of errors their end so they will swallow the £1200 they paid to the bloke AND reinstate my no claims bonus so everyone's a winner.
It's opened my eyes though and no wonder there are so many fake claims if that's all it takes is to make a call, no evidence no nothing. Unbelievable eh but top marks guys for opening my eyes to it0 -
Ask them to confirm in writing to you that they have not registered the details of this as a fault claim against you on CUE.
Or if there was no incident at all and this was a case of mistaken identity, then ask them to confirm that no record at all has been put on CUE over this.
Keep any correspondence you get from them confirming this for at least 7 years!0 -
The insurers have stated they cannot remove it entirely from my policy but it will appear as a non fault claim.
My brokers now say that there will be a loading on my premium next year and for next 3? Years at lest, she estimates this at approx £100 in the first year.0 -
If this is fraud as you suggest, would the police not have been interested? Did you go to them and tell them someone is committing fraud against you?0

The police cannot possibly investigate every dubious and disputed motoring personal injury claim.
What they presumably target are the organised rackets committing multiple frauds. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Do dummy quotes now online with and without this non fault claim on your history to get a good idea of what difference it makes to the premiums from a wide range of insurers.
You may find it will be significantly better to DIY (and consider using a cashback site too)0 -

But how do you know that the case in question isn't part of an organised racket?
It might be the case that the person in question has done this same thing many times before but if no one has reported it to the police, there is no way that they will start an investigation.
A false claim is a crime, no different to breaking into someone's house and even though the police may not follow it up, surely it makes sense to report it and leave the police to decide.0 -

This isn't a dispute about whether a personal injury is genuine or not. This is a dispute about the whole incident happening.
It's a sad state of affairs when people think the police shouldn't have a duty to investigate small (potential) crimes. If in fact it is a 'small' crime.0 -
Well macman I personally believe that all crimes should be reported, investigated, and prosecuted. Sorry if my zero tolerance approach doesn't sit well with you - let me ask you who do you think should be arbiter of whether the police should spend time on a particular crime?0

How will the police know about the "organised rackets committing multiple frauds" if people are discouraged from reporting individual claims to them?
This should absolutely be reported to the police.0
