What do you think about the mac book air? 13" I am thinking. Anyone have one and anyone know the cheapest place to buy and should I have the 3 yr warranty?
Or can you recommend anything similar/better?
apple seems reliable and long lasting.

I got mine from pc world last month for £849 same as the apple store but got £100 cash back, not sure if that offer is still on
have to say having had windows for years the mac is superb
offer ends 24/90 -
I've got the 11" and absolutely love it. Took me a few days to get into the way of using it compared to Windows, but that really wasn't an issue. Certainly don't regret buying over a comparable Windows machine, which were more expensive at the time I bought mine in 2013.
There's a 256GB in the outlet store just now for £849.

I didn't go for the care plan as I don't live in the UK.0 -
Cheapest place to buy would be from Apple Store and getting a student discount. That means you have to know someone who is a student, preferable a university student.0

I've had an air and two pros. I'm now currently using the pro.
Don't know if it was just mine but the fans on the air used to go insanely fast and quite loud. I was told this was simply because there is no space for an adequate heat sink in the air which means the fans come on more frequently.
It was getting old mind. Never heard the fans go on pros.0 -
thanks all! probably will go for this!0

They seemed to have ignored the need to pay VAT (and possibly import duties) when bringing it into the UK.0 -
If it's 13 inch we're talking about then compare with the 13 inch MacBook PRO (Retina). With getting rid of the DVD drive, they're now very close in size/weight to the Air. Also faster with, I think, better battery life, but most importantly IMO, the Pro has a FAR better screen. I think it's better value at the moment. You pay a premium for the Air because it's smaller/lighter. I'd take the slightly fatter, heavier but much better laptop for roughly the same price.
£100 cashback on all intel laptops over £599 (that includes all Apples) is still on in PCWorld/Currys.0 -
Check out John Lewis. I think they give an excellent warranty.0
