It sounds like nobody can direct you to any legislation that will get you a rent reduction.
Have you tried contacting Shelter or speaking with the solicitor you mentioned in your last thread who is an expert in tenancy law?0 -

You, in your other thread.....'we were paying next to no rent as per our agreement so we were ok with that'
I do think anyone thinking about answering this thread should read the OP's other thread first, or a moderator should combine the two threads.0 -
Totally irrelevant and unconnected, but this reminds me of a story I read in an old newspaper. A LL rented out the house next door to his own - but his tenants kept his wife awake as they'd be singing in bed - so he went to court to be allowed to knock the wall down and take that room away from the tenants. It was allowed

Made me laugh....0 -
He hasn't actually stopped you using it, just isolated the electrics for safety. There is nothing stopping you using it for anything that doesn't need an electrical supplyThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Please RE READ that other thread, you have obviously misread it, we WERE paying next to no rent due to the LL living on the same premises.
As he moved to Australia, we now have a letting agent and a TA and pay the going rent for a property in this condition in this area
I hope that clarifies the situation.0 -

we saw the solicitor and found that is was too expensive. Shelter said is a wooly point, but yes we could, but tbh, i need somthing more than that to sent to the LL, they suggested £100 PCM0 -
