Hi all,
I wonder if someone will be able to help us out please. We are moving into a repossessed house with Oil system.
We have never had oil but that is not the problem as such, more so the fact that we don't know where to start?
How can we find out the old supplier? do we have to?
How can we check if there's any oil in there? looks like a big metal box to me with no visible way of telling and I have nightmares not being able to shower after a full day of moving all our belongings.
And finally is there a price comparison site for oil like there is for gas for example?
oh and just when you thought that was it? I think we need to have the boiler inspected before we attempt to switch it on can someone recommend a good company? we are in N. Yorkshire
THANK YOU:smileyhea

Oil can be supplied via a rolling contract, but normally it's cheapest to phone up the nearby firms to get the best quote and they come and fill up. Or you can use BoilerJuice, which is a price comparison site I guess that also arranges delivery.
You can check if there's any oil in there using a clean dipstick.
Check out the oil forums btw, they are a sub forum of this one.0 -
Thank you smiley Dan0

Repossesions often have the services disconnected, so you may well find that there is no water or electricity supply either, without both of which you'll have no hot water anyway.
It should be easy enough to find out in advance what is or is not connected. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thank you Macman we have already checked these and thankfully it is all there just need turned back on0
