Credit Rating

Hi guys,
I've recently become debt free after a few years of payday loans, credit cards etc.
I have no CCJ's but needless to say I'm pretty sure my credit rating is currently rock bottom due to countless missed payments, numerous payday loans etc.
What is the best/surest way of checking my credit rating, and what would be the best way for me to now boost that score?
Many thanks for your help.

What current credit accounts do you still have open? any credit cards?
Often a good way to help build up a positive credit history is using a credit card for a few transactions each month and repaying in full each statement.
If you already have a credit card that does not have significant past payment issues then you could use that, alternatively you could try applying for a new credit card which would probably need to be a subprime credit card in your situation.
If you haven't checked your credit files then it is worth doing so. Don't pay the premium prices to buy scores, you just need the basic credit file as that is what a potential lender would see, and to check through those to see that all the information is accurate. Your callcredit file is free from noddle. For experian and equifax you can buy your statutory report for £2 each, or there are free trials you can use if youhaven't done so before (only free if you remember to cancel in time!).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

I have a HSBC bank account, and a vanquis credit card (account is still active but not used in AGES).
I did have a capital one card and a luma card but both accounts were shut down as I used a Debt Management Plan initially to help me out, although I was able to cancel this half way through and pay the remainder of the debts myself thanks to a windfall.
Will look at Noddle and see if it helps me
Thanks 0
