As long as the ATM excepts your card, E.G. Visa matercard etc, it dosent matter what bank you use as its your own bank charges that only apply, The nationwide debit and credit cards are the best for use abroad low charges and best exchange rates.

Hi
I used my Nationwide credit card in Paris a few weeks ago for cash withdrawal at La Poste and Societe General and was charged £3.06 per transaction and the £1.50 overall by Nationwide. Exchange rate was 1.47. Hope this helps!

You should try and avoid using a credit card for ATM withdrawals if you can, because they normally charge a daily interest rate (on top of a withdrawal charge). Try and use a debit card if you can (and preferably get hold of a Nationwide debit card)."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
I agree Nationwide Debit Card is definitely the best for overseas withdrawals. We spent 2 weeks in Paris over Christmas and used ATMs roughly 3 times a week in different Banks' machines and were not charged at all. In fact the rate of exchange was better than if we had taken cash.
Also if you buy white goods/electricals with their creditcard and phone to register them with Nationwide you are given an additional year's warrantee free on top of the manufacturer's guarantee.:EasterBun

Should point out this doesn't apply to goods purchased outside of the UK, as I just found out recently."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
If you use the same common sense as in the u.k. (Not useing minimarket cash machines etc which charge) and sticking to The country of your visit main banks, you should not incur any extra charges other than that by your own banks terms and conditions.
