My partner is thinking about moving in with me and I was wondering how this would effect our benefits.
I currently recieve Income Support, Child Benefit, Child Tax Credits, and he recieves ESA [Work Related].
Would we do a joint ESA claim? Also would I still be entitled to Child Benefit and Child Tax Credits?

In a joint claim for ESA you would receive £142.45, your HB/CTS would be the same and also you would still receive CB/CTC at the same rate.
You would need to inform both your Council and tax credits of the change in circumstances, be aware your tax credits will probably stop for a few weeks until the new award is being processed.
Total reduction in income should be £31.10 per week but do understand it is cheaper to live together based on not needing to heat 2 homes, CT on 2 homes and cooking for a family, TV Licence, electricity etc,Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0 -
