Default notice on credit file

Hi and good afternoon

I'm new to this so hopefully someone will be able to help me!
In September 2008 I was subject to a bankruptcy order, which I was discharged from in 2009. At the time I held an account and a credit card with HSBC, both of which were included in the insolvency. Being slightly naive and under the impression(having been told repeatedly by people in the know) that my credit score was destroyed for years to come I haven't really taken an interest in my credit file, until now! I opened a Noddle account more out of curiosity than anything and have been reading through and checking all the details. Most appears correct and my credit score is indeed rubbish, however I noticed that once a month for the last 6 years I have a default on a credit card with HSBC. More alarmingly, this credit card is sitting in my 'open' accounts section. HSBC were notified of my insolvency and of the later discharge from bankruptcy, indeed the old bank account is in the 'closed' accounts section but the credit card is not. I realise this may be me being stupid but if anyone could answer this for me I'd be eternally grateful. I'm aware of the 6 year rule but doesn't make sense why the bank account would be closed but the credit card not. I'd hate for this to become a stumbling block if there ever was a possibility of me gaining credit etc in the distant future!

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this and fingers crossed one or two of you may have some invaluable advice!!

    Hi

Your creditors should date a default notice of no later than the date you went bankrupt. This then will show on your credit file for 6years from the default date.
After 6 years the default and the whole record of the debt will drop off your credit file. The defaults every month are not new defaults, it is the date of default on your record that is the key information.

If the default date on the credit card is the date you went bankrupt then it will disappear this month. If it is later than that they you need to write to them - see here - Credit Reference File Clean Up Post Bankruptcy
