stove fitting and chimney lining quote

Options
Hi, we have so far had 2 quotes for lining the chimney and fitting a stove as well as issuing a hetas certificate. As it's the busy time of year I'm keen to get the work booked in so I would appreciate any comments on the 2 quotes we have so far or if it's worth waiting 3 weeks for the 3rd person to come out and do theirs.

quote 1 (more of an estimate as he just gave me figures off the top of his head whilst he was here) £1300

quote 2 (proper quoteation) £1100 inc vat

Neither include the cost of the stove which will be purchsed seperately

I think quote 2 will take some beating but appreciate any feedback.

    What does this price include?

How tall is chimney, making good etc?
  • Its a standard 2 story house, includes fitting cowl, register plate and co2 alarm and all materials needed. The hearth is fine and the opening needs no work so it's a pretty straight forward installation.
    We're in Northamptonshire as well.

Ok. For what's it's worth I paid £350 to have mine fitted and signed off by HETAS FITTER. I provided cowl and liner which I procured online for a few hundred quid. The installer provided and fitted the register plate to size on site. Adaptor, fuel pipe and alarm were about £100 so the total there is approx £700 but you'll pay for convenience there with them doing the lot. Doesn't sound like a complete rip off but get a couple more recommended quotes :)
  • does seem on the high side we had mendip 5 stove , twin wall flue (no chimney) hearth all fitted by hetas installer 2k and that was febuary this year

I've just had a Charnwood C5 fitted for £2.5k (including stove) two weeks ago in Hertfordshire.

However, that involved a lot of building work as they had to open up the fireplace and remove an old Baxi Boiler. It also included a granite hearth too.

I don't think your quotes are too bad at all - another fitter near us charges £1450 for a straightforward fit including hearth so doesn't seem too far away from the mark.
