Red Spotted Hanky - service so bad it makes you want to cry!

Red Spotted Hanky promise to deliver my rail tickets to my station's ticket machine in two hours - I get there and the machine says no tickets, OK I think I've got time and will check in the morning - still no tickets! I call up the help line - they say there is a problem and that they can't get the tickets out to me or any one else - I say what to do and they say they don't know! Apparently management can't offer any advice either and can't promise any refunds if I have to buy another ticket - losing my chance to get a discount. They then put the phone down!

The most unhelpful service ever, a company with no back-up plan if their main computer goes down!

I've never liked their business model of trusting the ticket would be there at short notice.

On the plus side, if you're crying, then they are the ideal company.

Never used them at short notice, but generally if i've ordered before midday, my tickets have arrived in the post the next day.

If you have paid for a ticket and they fail to supply, then buy another one on the day and take them to court for the difference if needs be.

I would email and get it in writing that they have failed to supply the tickets.

Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I think there was a general problem with the Ticket on Departure (TOD) database on Tuesday/Wednesday which would have affected all sales channels not just Redspottedhanky.

I've heard reports elsewhere of booking offices stamping itineraries to allow people to travel.
  • I've not found them to be that great either. Personally, I've always used https://www.takethetrain.co.uk/apps/WebObjects/TTT.woa/wa/Nav/reset and always found them to be easy to use and helpful on the 'phone when I've had an occasional query.

    Best wishes. x

I used them for quite a while because I had a load of Tesco vouchers and, at the time, they were offering three to one redemption.

I never had a problem but I did wonder what would happen if the ticket dispenser was not working when I went to get the ticket.
There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.
