  • Good morning everyone :)

    Just about morning!

Working from home today to try and rest a bit. Thanks for all the advice here and on FB for the cough. The Conovia night time worked better than anything else so far but it tastes absolutely disgusting :(

Sun is shining so am having a break now and putting this morning's wash out and finding something I want to eat in the fridge/larder unit.

nmlc - that happened to me in my last job, I was not impressed one little bit. Then I went back to work and they referred me to occupational health .... who promptly sent me home again! Management and HR shut up after that.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

Division of household labour - I don't expect Mr LW to do any household task I'm capable of doing; but I do expect considerate behaviour. F'r instance - I don't expect him to wash the breakfast things before he leaves for work (though he sometimes does, cos he's nice like that) but I do expect him to quickly wipe the crumbs he's made off the work surface when he's done his sandwiches. I don't expect him to clean the whole bathroom, but I expect him to leave the wash-basin in a presentable state after he's shaved. That sort of thing.:o If there's a task that needs doing and he's here, he'll offer to do some, so that we can get it finished and out of the way quicker, and he sees it as just the logical thing to do. He says he and his sisters were brought up to muck in and help - his father always used to muck in with the housework too; and also, he lived on his own for 12 years, so if he wanted a clean house, he had to clean it, so he doesn't take it for granted that I'll do it all.:o

Re Human Remains Depts and sick leave - Mr LW was told he'd have to have a "back to work" interview because he was signed off for a fortnight after his hernia op; what actually happened was his boss decided it was a big waste of time for him (the boss) and for Mr LW, and "let's call the interview done, shall we; now let's get back to our real work".:D It would have been awful if they'd wanted to visit him at home, as I don't like visitors, it'd probably have set me off on a panic attack!

Day 3 of the kitchen refit; we have cupboards, tiles, and a sink - not sure if the taps are back on yet. Awaiting delivery of the new cooker. Cupboard doors are currently being fitted. I shall be so glad when it's over - as I mentioned, I don't like people in my house.

:rotfl:It's what Mr LW calls their Human Resources dept - that which would once upon a time have been called Personnel.

    Afternoon all

Just sat down for a cuppa to look for carrot cake recipes

Had lovely yoga session, could almost fall asleep, even on the hard floor! Then had little bike ride, too windy on the seafront so went around the houses, trying to do a little every day as we will cycle a lot on holiday and I need my cycle legs fit!

Hairy bikers cottage pie, with one for freezer for tea, another home grown takeout for another night.

DH tapping and banging away in the garage, making his cutlery jewellery, has now branched out into coat hooks and napkin rings they really are rather good!

Have a good day all, bake off tonight!

Hugs to those in need. X

  • Afternoon all,

Well it's been a cloudy day today but at least the wind has blown to hopefully dry the washing.
Had an appointment with the Health lady at my GP's as they had invited me for a health check. I'm quite pleased as my cholesterol has come down even more to 4.3 and my heart is apparently younger than me :)
Popped around to the inlaws with DH. FIL has bought a very expensive all singing and dancing mobile phone but couldn't even answer it!!! He never texts because he doesn't know how to and only goes on FB! Why he didn't buy a simpler phone god knows.

DH is being cantankerous about DD's Wedding. He didn't like the fact she is getting married in Scotland (apparently he hates the place, people etc etc blah blah), didn't want any input into the accommodation I was looking at and subsequently booked.
Last night he tells me he has been enquiring about rentals and wants to stay a week and not the four nights I'd thought. Quite probably because it means I will need to take more time off and working in a school its not really allowed. He has also informed me he has asked his brother and SIL to stay with us and is going to ask his other brother too!! He doesn't want DD and the bridesmaids getting ready at ours either. I have said to DD all along not to be surprised if he ends up not even going. To say I am pee'd off is a bit of an understatement.

I'll stop moaning now and go back to making some Apple Chutney.

    Have a good evening all.

I daren't tell you all the tasks DH does, he too was brought up a muck in household, especially when his Mum needed A kidney out when he was around 16-17. As I've always worked FT I insisted we share chores fron the start 41 years ago. But since retiring he gets bored and I have many projects/hobbies I never do, so he has slowly taken over the HW. I do 99% of the cooking, though he mucks in with me on that and prepares the veg, and I usually start the WM off, but either/both hang in out/take it in. I also sneak in bits he doesn't do which I would, but us not much tbh. My main job is looking after the technology and the money ;):o

Had a lovely day today Mr & Mrs Jayward have been over to see us, and we have been out for lunch. Very enjoyable. Tomorrow we are being taken out to lunch & shop by our neighbours who borrowed our bathroom while we were away, while they had theirs refurbished, and whose laptop I have just clean and speeded up, as well as bring the iPad rescuer often, to say thank you. I seem to look after 4 laptops, 4 iPads, a huddle and a Nexus 7, let alone my desktop, which decided it wanted some TLC and have its memory taken out and out back in again before it would boot. I am sure computers are male.

Rather cool here today, as no sun.

(((Hugs))), Spoons, Positive Vibes all round. Take care everyone. DG

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
