Parking Charge Notice Britannia parking east kilbride

hi guys just wondered if anyone could give some advice on a a private pcn i received from britannia parking.

apparently i parked in a permit holders only zone, since the date of the offence i have parked there a few times simple because its right next to where i am going.

i have seen signs but didn't take much notice as the times i have been parking there the parking would be free in the rest of the shopping center e.g on a Sunday afternoon and weeknights after 6pm.

on one occasion i seen a security guard go into the car park look at me and my car but say nothing about parking their.

they have pictures of the car going in and out. i live in scotland not sure if this makes a difference or not

any guidance would be great thanks

    Simple short version - ignore.

Have no communication with them whatsoever.

If the spaces are permit holders only get a permit or park with some consideration for those that have them.
  • thanks, i also meant to add the car park was almost empty and i parked away from the building

What actually happened is totally irrelevant.

You live in Scotland so you can ignore this completely.

Unless this is a hired or a leased car - in which case you inform the vehicle owner/keeper to pass everything on to you to deal with.

And then you ignore everything as above.

You'll get five or six preposterous letters threatening all sorts of things which will not and can not happen - then they give up.

Their whole business plan is based on people believing their lies and paying up.
  • thanks guys i was just worried about the multiple offences

They are not 'offences' at all and the PPC can only pursue the driver in Scotland. Seeing as they are writing to the registered keeper who isn't going to tell them who the driver was (and doesn't have to) it's game over for the PPC.

Google 'Dundee Courier private parking' and read the 2014 articles they ran. That's the position for you. IGNORE. A keeper is not liable in law.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
