Ebico Equigas - overcharge for everyone?

Been keeping a close eye on my Equigas bills, and they always seem to overcharge very slightly.
My the unit rate works out to be slightly too high - i.e. you are supposed to pay 2.55p per kwh, but if you divide you bill total by number of kilowattt hours used it comes out more than that.
It is only a pound or so each quarter, but still they shouldn't be overcharging like this.
Please can someone check their bill to see if they are doing this to everyone.
I informed the managing director of the problem back in january, and since then the overcharges have decreased in scale slightly, but not fixed.
BTW don't let this post put your off Ebico, they aren't perfect, but far better than most energy companies out there.

My bill is spot on.
Do you pay by DD by any chance?
Or is it maybe a prepayment meter?

Mine was 12 pence less, every little helps.
I pay by DD I guess the problem is due to a rounding error.
Still a happy customer though. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

The "total bill" includes VAT, take off the VAT then divide, it will then be correct.
Actually I have slightly misinformed,( didn't look at my bill correctly), mine is correct whichever way I try it, with or without VAT.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
With ebico, because everyone pays the same, you are not entitled to the suppliers DD discount and this shows as a slight increase on the suppliers published energy prices; this reclaims the DD discount by increasing the fuel price. This mail from them may make this clearer - note that the prices are old ones!!
Dear Customer,
I think you are paying by Direct Debit. If you multiply the Kwh used on Gas by the 1.94p I am sure it will be the bill total. As ewe do not give a discount for Dd customers and southern electric do, they add a percentage ot the Kwh and VAT, then the discount take the rates back to the correct one. I have copied and pasted a piece on the website referring to this.
My bill says that I’m getting a discount for paying by Direct Debit – but I thought the whole point was that everyone paid the same on EQUIGAS and EQUIPOWER?
In some circumstances billing procedures automatically deduct a percentage from the bill for Direct Debit payment. In these circumstances the work-around we use is to ADD a percentage to the bill first so that when the deduction is made it comes back to the correct EQUIGAS or EQUIPOWER bill. Sorry, we know it sounds a bit daft, but that’s computer systems for you! We are working to remove this oddity.
It will be the same for the electric.

No news, but in the past they have done it in September.0 -
It's because you pay by dd. Most suppliers systems will automatically deduct a percentage as a dd discount which can't be taken off, so suppliers will add this to the unit price so the overall unit price is slightly higher, therefore you are paying the correct amount. Find out what the dd discount is and this percentage will be the amount your unit price shows as being increased by on your bill.DMP with Payplan started 01/07/11
Starting debt £28,645
Current estimated DFD 01/11/2019
But I will get it over with sooner!!0
