Noisy Flamin' Neighbours!

I know this has been vented about before but I'm spitting feathers this morning so I need to rant!

Middle son is sitting his first O level / O Grade/ GCSE (call it what you will) this morning. Trouble is he has been up half the night due to a neighbour 2 doors away playing music loudly.

I was none the wiser until morning (bedrooms different directions) when he appeared bleary eyed and half asleep. I wish he'd woken me up last night and I would cheerfully have phoned the Police but he didn't. He's now not as alert as he should be and he's in a bad frame of mind. I'll be very surprised if this doesn't affect his work.

Neighbour is a young female ( I wanted to put BAD things here!) with 2 dubious male friends who flit in and out. They do tend to drink a fair bit and drugs have been mentioned too (which I could believe as her behaviour has been very odd in the past).

We've had a lot of problems in the past but she usually shuts up once she gets warned by council or Police etc. Trouble is it never lasts and every new boyfriend means more noise. Most of the time it's not too bad for us as we aren't directly next door to her but exam time is different and I'm not happy about ANY noise!

I'm torn between going to her door and having a word (nicely) or saying nothing but moving son to sleep elsewhere if need be.

I don't have a problem complaining (I've already stomped on her in my head, lol) but the people who visit the house look as though they would be the retaliatory type and I'm a little concerned about my car/garden damage.

Does anyone know of anyone else who has managed to get away with actual murder? I do have a reasonable back garden which could house a new rockery. ;)

Thanks, I feel much calmer now. :D

I feel so sorry for your son, I know how he feels, on saturday I needed to be up at 6am to be somewhere by 7, but I didn't get to sleep ti about 3am as I live in a block of flats and mine is on the ground floor. And Well, the people upstairs were having a party (which was fine) but the decided that their flat was to small and decided to move it to the frong garden outside of my window. I called the flats security and he wouldn't do anything as there was too many of them.

The last thing you and your son need at the moment is "aggro".

Try earplugs and moving son to different part of house.

I know it is horrible but one disturbed night is not so bad - mine worried themselves so they could not sleep for night after night and it was awful!

i know how you feel i have lovely! druggy neighbours living below me and if my two year old runs around they bang on the ceiling, they've reported me to the council for making too much noise ie children running! however they have no worries in slamming their doors or having people kicking their door in and threatening them with knives. oh yeah and even on my daughters b'day we had about 5 kids over and even then they where banging on the ceiling at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. yet the girls boyfriend yesterday had the cheek to come up and ask ME if i had £1 he could have... like how dare they, why should i give them our hard earned money so they can get high!

plus i forgot to mention they have a 2y old, which annoys me as they should know kids make noise plus kids+drugs=danger!

Sorry to hear of your problems aliasojo, it sounds like a bloody nightmare

I've got 17 acres if that helps lol ;):D

Ok, i'll try and be sensible and serious for a mo, I can sense your anger and frustration and in your possition I know what i would want to do but lets think about it for a mo. Not just your family but everyone on here would be devasted if anything happened to you, so under the circumstances i think it may be wiser not to get into any altercations with her or her "men friends"

Your son needs his rest thats for sure and if theres no one else he could go and stay with for the time being for some peace and quiet I hope that other's suggestions will be of some help to you.

Also, you need to report this, It cant go on, its not just unfair on you but for the rest of the neighbours too, and i'm damn sure they'll all feel the same way but may be to afraid to speak up, maybe you could have a word with the neighbours and gauge their feelings and if they all feel the same way as you, get together and make yourselves heard to the relevant authorities. anti-social behaviour is totally unexceptable and it needs to be stamped out. I really hope that you can sort this out as soon as possible for eveyones sanity.

    Take care

Sadly this is the kind of world we live in the troublemakers have it all on their side, not fair is it.

I agree it is not fair, but would hate to see things escalate so it was dangerous for the OP.

If they sounded reasonable (or even human) then I would have suggested a quiet word.

Oh yay! I could do a job lot! ;):D

Seriously though, thanks everyone for replies. Sorry to hear some of the other problems with neighbours, I really feel for those who have to live above or below the horrors.

At least my problems are sideways, lol.

You should see my problem neighbour, she looks so quiet and angelic too, lol.

Son has recently come home after 1st part of (English) exam and seems to think it went ok so I'm feeling a little less annoyed now.

I'm going to have a word with other neighbours this afternoon to see what they think. I think we may become the Police's worst nightmare shortly as we may plague them with phone calls everytime she's antisocial.
