in Energy
I was with EON for both my electricity and gas and was paying £107 per month, on checking if I could get it cheaper it seemed if I swapped to EDF I would only have to pay £91 direct debit per month.
It's about 3 months later roughly and EDF have asked for a meter reading, I have given it today and on the back of that they now say they will have to increase my direct debits and it will be £107 again. I'm not quite sure why I swapped?
Why was I told EDF was cheaper, when I will end up paying the same amount again?
Thanks

As a keen MSEr, you will know that the energy switching process requires some research based on your location and projected annual usage. The DD that you pay is only a best guess estimate, and it may vary if your usage is higher or lower that than the projection. Having said that, you need to make sure that EDF has used an actual meter read rather than an estimate.
The bottom line is that you have agreed a tariff and you will pay for what you use. It might be worth running your projected usage through a switching site to see if there any better offers available. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
