Baxi boiler and gas fire

I have an old baxi back boiler, must be 40 odd years old.
Unfortunately it has the gas fire to go with it. Can I remove the fire and keep the boiler?

They are built and fitted to be used together.0

That's a shame then!
Can you expand on this at all? I mess with many things, but not gas.
Is a direct feed to the boiler no good?
Not doubting you, just trying to get my head round it.
Cheers

No, all should stay in place including the current venting/boiler front. Sorry!0

The fire and back boiler work off the same flue. The spigot for the fires exhaust fits into a letterbox size opening in the boiler and the exhaust from the boiler AND fire then are discharged into the chimney.
You cannot remove the fire and still work the boiler, it will spill fumes and kill you. Don't go messing with the boiler and try and do a Heath Robinson on it by welding a plate over the spigot connection, it wont work .
Been asked this so many times and still get people telling me they can do it. You cannot !
It is either remove it and put a new boiler somewhere in the house, or keep everything as it is. Don't look at the new CBBU from Baxi, they are rubbish.0 -
Haha thanks everyone!
I don't mind the boiler, last quarterly bill was about £30, and that's with the pilot on. Would take 20 years for a new one to pay for itself.
Can a more modern looking fire be fitted? Would like one of those tv looking things ideally.
Don't worry, been electrocuted a few times, but gas is a big no no to mess with!
I was thinking of a new baxi, as it's a straight swap. Are you saying to avoid this, and choose a different boiler and location?
To be honest, this thing has been serviced once in the last 7+ years, and it was all A ok when it was done, so am happy to keep it.0
